When I followed for the EF language trip Barcelona I really had no idea how much this trip would change my life. Barcelona, one of the most exciting cities in Spain, is now not only the place where I learned Spanish, but also the place where I discovered a new culture, found new friends and really strengthened my self -confidence.
My life in a host family
Carmen, mine Guest motherwas just incredible. She welcomed me warmly and looked after me touchingly. From the beginning I felt at home with her. We ate together, she cooked Spanish dishes and I was able to apply my Spanish properly in everyday life. Carmen always had an open ear for my questions and was super patient if I didn't understand something. What was particularly great for me was the relaxed atmosphere at dinner together. Carmen always spoke slowly and clearly what helped me learn new words without feeling overwhelmed. In the conversations, I not only learned the language better, but also got exciting insights into Spanish life.
The everyday campus life
The language course at EF was exactly what I bought. The teachers were super nice and totally motivated not only to teach us grammar and vocabulary, but also to familiarize us with Spanish culture. The class consisted of students from different countries, which made the whole thing even more exciting. So I was not only able to improve my Spanish, but also find friends all over the world.
I found it particularly cool that the lessons were super practical. Instead of just buffing up, we spoke a lot and worked in groups. We have re -enacted everyday situations – as ordered in the café or ask for the way – what helped me feel more secure in the language. It was exciting to see how quickly I made progress, especially because I was able to apply what you have learned directly in everyday life. After a week I was really confident in the café in Spanish alone.
In addition to the lessons, there were also numerous leisure activities that made learning even more exciting. EF had always organized excursions where we Experience Barcelona from different perspectives could. We made a trip to the Costa Brava, have strolled through the old town and admired the impressive architecture of Gaudí. Every time we looked at a new destination in the city, I was able to apply my Spanish, be it to ask for the way or to speak to other students.
My conclusion
My first EF language trip to Barcelona was simply unforgettable. It was the perfect combination of learning, travel and fun. I not only improved my Spanish significantly, but also learned a lot about Spanish culture and found great new friends from all over the world. The host family, especially Carmen, was incredibly helpful and made me feel that I was part of a real Spanish family.
My first EF language trip will not be my last! So what are you still waiting for?
