Why did you choose a language trip?
After graduating from high school, I wanted to improve my English skills to expand my professional perspectives. A language trip offered me the perfect opportunity to do this in an international environment.
Why did you choose EF?
EF convinced me with his many years of experience and attractive offers. In addition, the possibility was particularly important for me to take a Cambridge C1 exam.
How did you prepare for the trip?
I wrote a packing list in advance and learned some important vocabulary. I also used the EF Campus Connect App to better prepare myself and look at reports about Miami to learn more about my goal.
What were your thoughts before departure?
I was excited to master my first long -haul flight alone, and I was looking forward to finding new friends and discovering a completely new environment.
How were the first few days abroad?
My first day of school was great! I immediately felt very comfortable in the Cambridge C1 preparation and was in good hands at school from day one. It was not too different culturally, but the Spanish influence in Miami was exotic and exciting, which I really liked.
Did you find friends quickly?
Yes, I found a lot of new friends in the first few days. The other students came from all over the world, including from South Korea, Italy and China, with the majority from Europe.
Have your language skills improve?
I started the Cambridge C1 preparation and after three weeks I was allowed to switch to the C2 course. Since then I have felt much more confident and more relaxed when I speak to native speakers.
What did you do in your free time?
The Welcome Tour on Monday was a great way to get to know the most important sights in Miami and to discover good bars and restaurants nearby. There were also trips to Key West, Everglades and Orlando.
Where did you live abroad during the time?
I lived in a four -bed room with three roommates with whom I got on well. The accommodation and the school were in the same building, a charming old hotel from 1964. The paths were also very short.
What will you remember?
I particularly appreciate the friendships and connections that I closed during this time. I will carry these memories with myself forever!
