A dream came true!
Hi, I'm Kristin and I would like to tell you about my 6-week language trip to San Diego with EF. For me this trip was a dream come true! I have always had the desire to travel to America – and California in particular. Since I had to complete a stay abroad as part of my studies, this was the perfect time to finally make my dream come true. I had heard a lot of positive things about EF while I was at school, which made me feel like I was in good hands and only made me more excited about the adventure ahead.
Between excitement and uncertainty
During the 12-hour flight to San Diego, anticipation and nervousness mixed: What if I don't find any friends there and am completely alone? Will my English be good enough? But all those worries disappeared the moment I entered my room for the next six weeks and met my roommate. We hit it off right away and immediately set off together to explore the campus. Language barriers? None! In the following days we met many wonderful people with whom we spent the rest of our stay in San Diego. We became a diverse group from different countries including Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Portugal and France. After just a few days, we had developed such a close connection that it felt like we had known each other forever. Not only did we spend a lot of time together in class and on campus, but we also did some really great activities and trips that we will remember for a long time.
Unforgettable experiences
EF San Diego offered a variety of exciting activities that incredibly enriched my stay. My personal favorites included a trip to Las Vegas and a Sunset Dolphin Cruise. But there was always something going on on campus: there were free daily activities such as volleyball tournaments or Pilates courses that provided variety and fun. I found it particularly nice that from San Diego I could not only explore the city itself, but also travel to many other wonderful places in California. The team of employees and teachers were consistently friendly and always there for you if you had a question or concern.
Friends for life
I can only confirm the saying “Home away from home”. Strangers quickly became friends and friends became a small family. Even now I'm still in contact with everyone and I'm looking forward to one or two meetings that are already being planned. It's just nice to have found friends for life.
The trip to San Diego not only gave me the chance to make new friends, but also a great opportunity for personal development and gaining valuable experience. After just six weeks, my English has improved significantly, which makes me really happy.
My time in San Diego was simply amazing! It was by far one of the best times of my life and I can only recommend everyone to have this experience too!
